A Dazzling Decade on the Diamond Former Moncton Mets player and coach, and retired teacher, Bob Bowser, has written a self-published book about baseball in Moncton in the 1980’s and early 90’s.
The book covers the initial eight years (84-91) of the Moncton Mets’ franchise, including their six provincial championships, four Atlantic titles, and national bronze medal. As well, the book tells the story of a few successful seasons of the Moncton Jr. Keefe Cubs during this era, who took home 3 provincial and 2 Atlantic championships, and the Midget Tim Hortons, who won a national gold and a bronze.
There are chapters that recap specific seasons, as well as chapters that examine individual local players, imports, former and future major leaguers, and the players added from around the province for various tournaments. Comments from lots of baseball personalities from around the province are included in most chapters.
The book will be printed in May and the cost (not yet finalized) will be approximately 25 dollars. Profits from the book will be donated to Moncton minor baseball.
